Dr. Riitakerttu Kaltiala, the chief psychiatrist at Tampere Hospital in Finland, said, “it is well known that 80%, even up to 85% of children who experience gender dysphoria and cross sex identification feel differently when they reach puberty after the early phases of puberty. And therefore, any medical interventions are not recommended for pre-pubertal children.”
Chloe Cole, 18, announced that she is suing Kaiser Permanente for a transgender surgery performed on her when she was 13. A team of doctors at Kaiser performed a double mastectomy on her at age 15 in a “mutilating sex change experiment,” instead of focusing more on Cole’s mental health, which they said included gender dysphoria.
Cole’s lawsuit states that she began identifying as a boy after viewing content online that encouraged the idea. After telling her parents that she wanted to be a boy, they took her for medical help. Doctors “immediately affirmed Chloe in her self-diagnosed gender dysphoria.” The doctors told Cole’s parents that she was at risk for suicide unless she transitioned, asking, “would you rather have a dead daughter or a live son?”
